Eligibility criteria for projects
Fondation LOOM carefully selects its partners and projects, applying specific criteria in the process.
We select our partners and projects according to the following criteria:
Requirements for partner organisations
- Organisations with strong local roots, preferably founded and led by local women
- Sound, transparent governance and financial structures
- A demonstrably high level of commitment and a clear vision
- Comprehensive technical expertise and competence
Project requirements
- Support for women and girls
- Projects with a significant local impact
- Involvement of the target group in the development and implementation of the project
- Projects with a clear thematic focus on the preservation and further development of textile crafts, as well as on the training, further education and economic independence of women and girls in these professions. This includes the production, training, transmission, documentation and archiving of traditional textile crafts, as well as innovative approaches to embroidery, weaving, sewing, printing, dyeing or the cultivation and production of cotton and silk. It also encompasses the teaching of basic principles in the areas of business management and financial planning.

Countries we support:
We support projects in low- and middle-income countries, with a particular focus on countries in South-East Asia.
We do not provide funding for the following:
- Projects that do not meet our funding criteria
- Projects in the areas of school education, sporting or cultural leisure activities, and psychosocial and health support for children
- Agricultural projects not related to textile crafts
- Projects by individuals
- Emergency aid

If your project meets our funding criteria, please send us a one- to three-page description of your organisation and the project in either German or English. In particular, please highlight how your project meets our funding criteria. Applications for funding may be submitted at any time.
We will carry out an initial review of your application. If we decide to proceed with your application, we will invite you to submit a detailed project description and ask you for further information.
Complete project proposals must be submitted electronically by 15 February or 15 August each year in order to be considered at the subsequent Foundation Board meeting. The Foundation Board meets twice a year to discuss project proposals.
