Our goals

The Fondation LOOM envisions women and girls in modestly developed nations being able to live in peace, safety and dignity and to claim their universal human rights.

Textile craft and cultural identity

Women and their skills play an essential role in the preservation and development of their cultural heritage of textiles. Additionally, the production of textiles is a significant source of income for them in many regions.

However, many women, especially in isolated areas, lack access to information about standards and resources to operate in the national as well as the international markets.

Particularly in view of globalisation, it is of vital importance for women to elevate their skills, their knowledge and their self-confidence, in order to have impact. This applies to areas ranging from the production of local raw materials to the development of their own traditional designs, and even the trade of their products in international markets.

The Fondation LOOM sees its purpose specifically in fostering textile crafts and the cultural identity connected to them.
