Our vision
Fondation LOOM’s vision is for women and girls to live in peace, security and dignity and to be able to exercise their universal human rights.
Textile craft and cultural identity
In many countries, textile crafts are an integral part of cultural heritage and cultural identity. Women and girls play a vital role in preserving and developing this heritage. Furthermore, textile production is a significant source of income for women in many regions. Therefore, it is crucial that women and girls are given opportunities to develop their skills, knowledge, and self-confidence, enabling them to make a difference.
Fondation LOOM is committed to promoting the preservation and further development of textile crafts, as well as the training, further education and economic independence of women and girls in these professions. The Foundation collaborates with women’s craft cooperatives and is dedicated to ensuring fair working conditions and the political participation of women. The LOOM Foundation also supports the international promotion and dissemination of cultural heritage from its priority countries.
Values
We foster personal relationships with our grantees
We maintain partnerships based on equality with the organisations and individuals we work with. As well as providing financial resources, we also contribute our time, expertise and networks where required.
We aim to have an immediate impact on the ground
Ideally, the projects we support are designed and implemented by local women’s organisations themselves. In the medium term, we work with our partners to ensure that the projects become financially self-sufficient. To this end, we support the organisational development and strengthening of our partners, as well as projects.
We are willing to take risks and have the capacity to do so
Foundations are the social venture capitalists of our society. Together with our partners, we are prepared to break new ground and support innovative projects. We are aware that this also carries the risk of failure.
We collaborate and co-finance
Collaboration with other donors is an important way for us to learn together and maximise the impact of the resources we invest. We also encourage our partners to network and pool local resources.
